help your decision.The PowerMac G4 is Apple’s top-of-the-line
model, with an expandable design that lets you add PCI cards
and additional hard disks. Targeted at power users and graphics
art professionals, PowerMac G4 models start at $1,699 for a
base model with an 867MHz PowerPC G4 processor, 256MB, 40GB
hard disk, and CD-RW drive. The $2,499 model is detailed in
our specifications.
The different PowerMac G4 models use different video cards.
The base model has an ATI Radeon 7500, while other PowerMac
G4 models provide an NVIDIA GeForce4 MX-based video controller.
All models but the entry-level one provide a SuperDrive. (The
entry-level PowerMac G4 offers a CD-RW drive instead.) The
SuperDrive is a DVD-R drive and can create 4.7GB DVDs that
can be read in most DVD drives. The SuperDrive can also burn
to standard CD-R and CD-RW discs.
One unique feature that the PowerMac G4 offers is an ultra-high-speed
Gigabit Ethernet adapter. You can also use the PowerMac G4
on a standard 10/100BaseT Ethernet network, or with the optional
AirPort wireless networking card.
